theclothingballseries is based on the free exchange of pieces of clothing found dumped in the streets of cities and towns or in any other public location — be it urban or rural.

To participate, please follow these instructions...

  1. When you come upon a piece of abandoned clothing, photograph it exactly as you’ve found it before picking it up.
  2. Note its location, i.e. the cross streets at which you found it + the city, or, if you are outdoors – note its location on a map (generally) or, specifically, by gps coordinates.
  3. Pick it up.

Mail —the piece of clothing (dry but unlaundered), a copy of the photo you took of it on-location (in digital or printed form), and the location (cross streets + city, or , a scan of an outdoor map with location indicated + nearest city, or, a gps designation) — to me at the following address...

(Please include an email address at which I can send you a confirmation message.)

After I’ve received your package, and confirmed that all necessary information is enclosed, I will send a confirmation email.

You can then sign on to the website...www.theclothingballseries.org, pick out any ball posted under the balls link (made from another garment donated to the series by myself or by another participant), request it by filling out the exchange information form.

I will mail the ball you’ve requested to you, if it is still available.

(I am requesting that you choose two “backup” balls, just in case the one you want slips away before your request reaches me.)

please contact me with any questions through the website email...
